LOCK

Stanton Cornish-Ward
& Trent Crawford

DISCORDIA COURTYARD
14 AUG - 27 NOV

Opening Drinks
SAT 13 NOV, 4-7pm

Using the DISCORDIA Courtyard as a backdrop, Crawford and Cornish-Ward's video installation invites viewers to engage with concepts of visual recollection, the passage of time, and the fallacy of memory. Throughout the work, the semiotics of memory are explored as a means of reconciling with and understanding the absurdity and chaos of the present. In the central video work LOCK three individuals recall their life's journey and how it led them towards a radical form of decentralised self-improvement therapy.

LOCK is also being activated on DISCORDIA IGTV

Text excerpt

"what I mean when I say I would like to swim against the stream of time … to restore an initial condition … every moment of my life brings with it an accumulation of new facts, and each of these new facts brings with it its consequences; so the more I seek to return to the zero moment from which I set out, the further I move away from it." 1
